Weekly, small group music lessons on guitar, fiddle, and banjo for students grade 4-8 and beyond! Meets every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Learning Center at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum.
Hosted by Big Al Wheetley and Sandy Shortridge. Every Saturday 1-3p EST.
The event is one class held in two sessions. Led by dulcimer player and instructor Roxanne McDaniel, participants will have the opportunity to build their own dulcimer from cardboard using simple tools. Introduced in the early 19th century by Scots-Irish immigrants, the dulcimer has a prominent history in Appalachian music. Participants in the workshop will learn more about that history and the importance of keeping this uniquely Appalachian instrument relevant for younger generations.
