The Tennessee Side

Bristol Caverns, South Holston Lake, Hands On! Discovery Center and Gray Fossil Site are just a few must-see attractions to behold. Paramount Bristol and Theatre Bristol host a plethora of incredible live shows year-round. We also recommend taking in live music at the legendary venue The Down Home in Johnson City.

Tennessee side has just as much to offer in the way of attractions and outdoor recreation, all within an hour’s drive or less from Bristol. Our tourism partners and friends at Northeast Tennessee Tourism Association will help guide you.

The Virginia Side

Bristol is part of the greater region of Southwest Virginia, which is steeped in the traditions of Appalachian music, arts, culture, and outdoor adventure. From the Carter Family Fold in Hiltons to the historic Barter Theatre in Abingdon, our friends at Visit Southwest Virginia are the best resource for things to do and see just outside Bristol on the Virginia side.
