Local author Joe Tennis is an award-winning journalist who has authored several local history books, including Beach to Bluegrass, Southwest Virginia Crossroads, and Images of America: Sullivan County. His ghost-focused books include The Marble and Other Ghost Tales of Tennessee and Virginia, Haunted Highlands, and The Ghostly Tales of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Highlands. His articles and photographs have also appeared in Blue Ridge Country, Bristol Herald Courier, Kingsport Times-News, Appalachian Voice, the Virginian-Pilot, and the Roanoke Times.

Joe Tennis is the author of 11 books on history and ghosts across Virginia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. As a storyteller, he has appeared on stages from Kentucky to Virginia Beach.
